Je suis chargé de recherche CNRS et je travaille sur des problèmes de morphogenèse à cheval entre la Physique et la Biologie. De manière générale, je m’intéresse au rôle de la courbure, et comment celle-ci peut être à la fois une propriété émergente et un guide au sein des processus de croissance. Au présent, j’étudie la formation du squelette chez les échinodermes et auparavant je me suis intéressé à la construction du nid chez les termites. Je n’ai pas toujours travaillé avec le vivant, et je me suis formé comme Physicien expérimental en étudiant des processus d’instabilité dans les fluides tournants et stratifiés pour modéliser des phénomènes géophysiques et astrophysiques.
I am a CNRS permanent researcher and my research addresses morphogenesis problems at the interface between Physics and Biology. I am interested in the role played by curvature, and how the latter can simultaneously be an emergent property and a driving cue of the growing process. I am currently working on the formation of skeleton microstructure in echinoderms and I previously studied how termites construct nests of complex geometry. I have not always been working with living things and I was trained as an experimental Physicist studying instabilities in stratified and rotating fluids with the aim of modelling geophysical and astrophysical phenomena.
